No college degree needed to become a Drone Pilot.
Helping black girls fall in love with STEM through drones opening the door to future careers in the drone industry.
We dream of a future with more women and girls of color in STEM fields – and to create a pipeline of qualified women and girls to fill the growing need for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified drone pilots.
I’m Roxane Romulus and I fell in love with the world of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) – or drones – by an aviator with 25 years of experience in the field. Over the course of a year, I learned everything I could about the drone industry.
I founded Black Girl Drone World to help women and girls of color between the ages of 15-30 find their niche in their STEM careers with my signature program Drones Taking Flight. I teach women and girls to fall in love with STEM through drones just like I did, guiding them to a wide range of future careers in the world of drones.
If you’re a parent who wants to expose their children to STEM opportunities, Drones Taking Flight is the course for you. In Drones Taking Flight, women and girls will learn about avionics, aerodynamics, and aviation. We’ll help you expand your views on future career paths, and shape important college decisions.
As a mother of two brown girls, I see my daughters in every single one of them. It is important that I not only prepare my daughters for what’s next for their future but also help other women and girls of color learn about the incredible opportunities in drone technology.
Drones Taking Flight is an excellent course for women and girls of color to learn about key concepts in STEM and technological advances in the drone industry. The course is comprehensive and flexible, targeted at every grade level to propel their understanding of the field from every angle.
With the increasing popularity of drones, they are becoming the next big thing in STEM, and the demand for smart aviators, certified drone pilots, and researchers is increasing. We aim to meet that demand by equipping women and girls of color with the tools to make their mark in this growing industry.
